Hey, I’m Eric C. Winter.
Welcome to my small corner of the internet: a living collection of projects, concepts, work, loose threads, and a few of the connections that weave them together.
Most of what I do grows from the same three questions:
What assumptions, stories, and illusions do we accept as real every day without noticing?
What else might become possible when we begin to challenge the limits of our own perception?
How do we live in alignment with our deepest truths while remaining open to the infinite mysteries of existence?
I don’t expect to ever answer these questions. But exploring them, from different directions and through different lenses and kinds of work, gives my life meaning and keeps me moving forward.
I hope each project here offers its own small invitation to look a little more closely, question something familiar, or discover something that in some way enriches your own journey.
Welcome.

How to use magic to expand perception. How different Southeast Asian pine forests are. Why AI music is so painful to listen to.
Want to stay in the loop?
I very rarely send emails. But when a project or idea becomes something worth sharing, I might send a note.

A bit about me…

Life has presented itself to me as a constantly evolving state of unknowing and surrender.
Each new chapter reveals further depths to my uncertainty, further collapse of my assumptions, and an ever-evolving expansion of my awareness of the beautiful mystery that lies beyond our narratives.
Two of the forces that have most deeply informed my worldview, and the belief that each of us has far more power to shape our realities than we know, are magic and travel.
I’ve been a magician since I was young, and began performing semi-professionally as a teenager. Time and time again, I’ve watched and facilitated the collapse of people’s certainty. I’ve seen how easily a convincing reality can be manufactured, and experienced firsthand how subjective, fallible, and remarkably malleable perception can be.
A lifetime of travel, too, has taught me that there’s no single way to live, and shown me the endless diversity, and thus possibilities, that can shape this human experience.
These awakenings led me to create my own degree in Ecology and Cyborg Anthropology at Western Washington University, where I studied ecology through the lens of complex systems: how relationships, feedback loops, and human choices shape the living world around us, and explored how changes in technology affect our relationship with and connection to the natural world. I then designed and taught my own course called Cyborg Ecology, which became my first platform to guide others to explore their evolving relationships with technology and nature.
Teaching at WWU then led me to Alderleaf Wilderness College, where I spent the next year out in the field, often with no gear, learning primitive skills and survival, and where I earned my certifications as a wilderness educator, wildlife tracker, and permaculture designer.
It was here, too, that I discovered that immersion in nature was an invitation to slow down, pay closer attention, explore my own mind, and pursue inner stillness.
Since then, I’ve lived many different lives in many different places, traveling, exploring, writing, drawing, dancing, running e-commerce businesses, and helping others see past their limiting beliefs and shape lives that are in alignment with who they truly are, in any way I can.
Since 2017, I’ve chosen not to anchor myself to any one particular place. I spent eight years living in an off-grid truck camper with my wife Amanda and our cat Sherlock, and we’re now continuing our travels in Southeast Asia and beyond.
Thank you for visiting my site and joining me on this adventure.
May what you find here resonate with your own journey through this crazy world.
